The Payson Temple

We are in love with the Payson, Utah Temple!
Every time we make a trip into town,
we can see it from a small distance.
9/10 times we are heading home from Walmart,
the kids BEG to go the "back road" so we can see it closer!
...Maddie talks about how she is getting married
(in the Payson Temple),
and we all discuss about the Open House
{How we can ALL go inside}
and then when they turn 12 years old.
We are so excited to have a Temple so close to home!

I found the pictures here.

February 2013

February 2013
Our Sweet Family: We have SPRING FEVER so bad! We are all so ready for spring to come. It's been so cold and windy outside, that we are ready for the warmth to find us. Things around the home seem to be getting back to normal. Mom and dad sure have to pull their weight to make things work smoothly, but we are so happy to be together as a family.

John: Words can't express how grateful I am for you. You are such a strong man, and you help me out in every single way. You especially help me in the morning when I struggle the most. You get the kids up and dressed, and fed, and even comb the girls hair. You do such a good job and I appreciate it so much. You have been really busy with work and your scout calling, but you still manage to find time to play the wii and have a little fun.

Lindsey: I am feeling stronger every day. I started writing in a journal and I really enjoy it! My mom had me write a journal from a young age, and in the past couple of years I have gotten out of the habit. I guess you could say I just didn't have a desire to do any of it. But I am feeling like doing things again, and it's great feeling myself coming back again. I enjoy warm weather when we get it, exercising at the church, BUNCO, and talking to my family on the phone.

Gavin: You are growing up way too fast. One thing that I notice you are doing more-is talking. You are talking more and more clearly. You are reading very well, and know most of your sight words. You are a very obedient boy, and do things without me having to ask you to do things more than once. You seem to be maturing, and it's fun to see that in you. You are becoming your own little/big person, and it's hard to believe the school year is almost over and you will be preparing for first grade!

Maddie: You love your friends. Lately you have been playing with Brielle Ivers and Annistyn Gambling. You do preschool and joyschool together 4/5 days of the week, so I am glad you are getting to know each other better. You will all start Kindergarten in the Fall. You love playing dress up. You love reading and playing the Wii. You are so loving and nurturing. You take forever to eat, but if there is something you like-you eat it really fast. You love to color and you are very detail-oriented. You are excited about starting Kindergarten, but you are deathly afraid of getting your shots!

Hudson: You are starting to play with Kooper Jerrett, and it's good to see you actually interacting and playing with a friend. You seem to be really happy when a friend is over or you can be outside playing, or if I take you to an indoor playground. Other wise, you like to tease a lot. I'm not sure if it's just a phase you are going through, or if you do it because you are bored? I hope it's something we can figure out! We sure do love you though. I am so happy with your progress in school. You know most of your letters and sounds! It's so hard we will be enrolling you into Kindergarten! You are excited about the school part too, but afraid of the shots. You ask every day if you have to get them that day.

Suzi: You are full of personality and spunk. There is something inside you that gravitates others to you. You love getting attention and doing anything to get it. You love opening and shutting doors. You often shut yourself in a room and can't get out! You love playing in water, especially in the kitchen sink. You end up soaking wet, and take all your clothes off. Sometimes you will end up inside the sink, and it just cracks me up. There are so many things you do that remind me of when Gavin was a toddler. It makes me smile. You are doing great with letting me exercise at the church, and you love our little friend Kastyn.

JANUARY 2013
January was a challenge for our family. Lindsey was in the hospital for 2 weeks, and our family survived by loving family, friends, neighbors, and ward members who took care of the kids, made us meals, and kept our family knit together.  We are so grateful for everyone who carried us through this difficult time, and for allowing us to heal and make life as normal as possible.

painting the snow...

The snow seems to be lingering this year...
so we decided to go outside and spray the snow pretty colors.
The weather was really nice
and we all seemed to enjoy ourselves.

Student of the Week

Gavin was Student of the Week
and he proudly wore
the crown all
week!!!

hello 2013

Hello 2013
The best is yet to come

Looking over the next year
we will continue to have more
changes, challenges, and blessings
coming our way!

{Another new hair cut}

I feel like I have a long road ahead of me.
But I feel optimistic and I'm trying
to be happy no matter what the
doctors have to say about my health.
So far, this last "episode" I had
made them
consider I have bipolar,
or just severe depression.
Needless to say, I love my family
friends, Heavenly Father and Savior
with all my
heart...
and I know they will help
me get through this year!
. . . . .

Another addition to our family...
Welcome
Alec Alfred Frehner
My little brother Tony and his
wife Lisa had a new baby in December
Isn't he so cute?

December 2012

December 2012
Our Sweet Family: December was a busy, busy month for all of us! But the magic of Christmas was felt dearly in our home with our sweet little children.  We especially enjoyed the 12 Days of Christmas from Grandpa and Grandma Frehner, Like most of us, looking at the Christmas lights on the trees, and having Thomas the Elf over at our house on "special duty" to make sure we are all behaving! Oh. And the cards and Newsletters were our favorites too! We love this time of year!

John: I REALLY appreciate the husband and father you are to me and our family. You have been placed in many difficult circumstances, but you have stood firm on your two feet and battled the storms with your testimony. I really appreciate that.  ...You got free tickets to the UVU Homecoming Basketball game. That was so fun to go as a family! You helped Gavin with his huge Train Homework assignment and you are a rock star! My brother Tony said you should have been an engineer, because you were building places in the plane for head lights and horns. We were all really impressed! You really looked forward to your two week vacation. We also had a Christmas Dinner with the ward and had Polynesian dancing and singing. We really enjoyed the entertainment.

Lindsey: I REALLY love my family and the gospel. I am thankful for Jesus Christ and his loving comfort that has gotten me through some really hard times. ...I went to a Janice Kapp Perry program with Kaydee, Jessica and met Erin there. I just love Janice, she has composed many of the LDS Primary songs--the songs that I learned as a child. I also hosted BUNCO and it was so much fun, but I'm a little relieved it's over. I spent a lot of time on our new felt stockings, and I am so happy with them. ...I guess it's a family tradition on my mom's side. My great grandma would make felt stockings for all the grand kids, and then my mom made me one. So I wanted to make one each for our family members. We even included Thomas our elf, because the kids say he's a part of our family!

Gavin: I REALLY enjoyed watching you during your school Christmas program and walking through the hallway for Polar Express Day. You even sang a few Christmas songs at church.  You knew all the words and you smiled so big--and it made me so proud of you! You are excelling in school and learning how to read and write so well; I am so impressed with how quickly you are picking up on everything you are required to learn at school.

Maddie: I REALLY enjoyed watching you interacting with Thomas the Elf this year. You would sing songs to him, write letters and stick them in his stocking, and telling him about your day. You made sure throughout the day that he was still in his little spot every day so he could watch you and make sure  you were doing good!  You are also doing fabulous in school! You love it so much.

Hudson: I REALLY enjoy watching your progression. You are learning at such a steady pace, and I feel like Miss Stacy and VIP Preschool is really what you need right now. You are discovering the world around you and you make it a better place to live in. Right now you and Gavin LOVE playing the Wii. You are still our little adventurer. You love trying new things and you are usually the first one to try something out.

Suzi: I REALLY enjoy watching you say your prayers! You think every time it's time to say a prayer-it's your turn. So you will fold your arms and close your eyes and just start praying. {Even if we asked someone else}. You know exactly what to do, and they are the sweetest prayers my ears have ever heard.  You loved Santa this year and listened to everything he had to say. He must have looked like another "grandpa" or maybe you noticed that everyone else got a See's sucker. Nevertheless, you are such a big girl and imitating everything everyone else is doing.

Christmas 2012

 The Cinnamon Tree upstairs

 The family tree downstairs

 {Opening presents together}
There was also a red streamer
that led to the Christmas tree and
downstairs to the Wii.

 The downstairs was wrapped
with Christmas wrapping paper.

Some of the favorite games include:
Hello Kitty
Mario Brothers
Kids Dance 2

For Christmas this year we stayed home together as a family
and the kids just played games all day.
It felt so good to be together.

The kids sure do love the snow!

a little sled hill on the side of our house.

{squeezing the toothpaste or soap out}

{Climbing into the sink for a bath}

{Getting in my makeup + baby and blanket}

Gavin's Christmas Program

We attended Gavin's Christmas program, and I can honestly say it's one of the cutest things I have ever witnessed. The kids did such a good job and I am so proud of them. My favorite song was "I'm getting nothin' for Christmas, mommy and daddy are bad....boy their mad! And then there was a part where the music played and they stuck their tongues out and acted really naughty. I am so glad we were able to see Gavin perform. Our whole family was there to see him.

Happy Birthday, John!

Happy
Happy Birthday
Johnny dear.
We love you!

For John's birthday year, we surprised him at work with balloons and his favorite drink {coke} and chocolate {Snickers}. Then we took him out to lunch at the Pizza Pie Cafe. It was simple but sweet and I hope you know how much we love you!

The Polar Express

Gavin had a Polar Express Day
and before hand they were assigned
for their home work to make their own train.
I put John in charge of that, and he did an excellent job!
He used a flash light for the front of the train
and found a horn to blow.
The kids watched a part of the movie,
saw Santa,
wore their jammies,
and walked through the halls in their train!

Maddie and Hudson even saw Santa!

Mr. Grinch

Kathleen arranged for
the Grinch
to come over for the
Joy School Christmas party.
After she served breakfast
and played a few games,
The Grinch came....
and a few kids really liked him,
and a few really screamed!
It was the funniest and saddest
thing I have ever seen!

Our Elf {Thomas}

Christmas is so magical and exciting at
our house around Christmas time.
Especially when Thomas gets to our house!
I managed to make our family felt
Christmas stocking and Thomas got one too!

oh.my.goodness.
Maddie LOVED singing to Thomas
this year! And it was so priceless!
I just loved watching the kids
talking to him, and feeling the
magic of Christmas in their hearts.

Thomas always brings
donuts and chocolate milk
the first day of his arrival.
The kids love this tradition too.

We found Thomas playing with
the helicopter remote control-
and the helicopter was on top
of the wall.
The kids got a kick out of that.

No explanation here!
We all need a little reminder
every once in awhile!
